Massive Alcohol Poisoning At Wiz Khalifa's Concert
2012-08-07
Nassau University Medical Centre had to take in 26 teenagers right before Wiz Khalifa's concert. The teenagers, whose ages ranged from 14 to 18, were delivered to the hospital with the same diagnosis-severe alcohol poisoning. Their friends were the ones to dial 911.
NBC reports: hospital press-secretary advised that none of the teenagers had to be hospitalized for further treatment. After getting medical assistance the teenagers were allowed to go home to their parents. The children had different degrees of alcohol poisoning. The doctors stressed the fact that drinking alcohol is completely forbidden at such age, especially in doses which bring kids to a hospital.
Police say that some fans managed to get drunk in the parking area. A lot of different empty bottles were found there after the incident. Selling alcoholic drinks was forbidden at the concert, so the fans decided to get drunk in advance.
Police Sgt. Manny Miller, of State Parks police told Newsday : "There's so much drinking going on…it's out of control." According to the hospital spokeswoman, the medical centre had to treat the kids who were all "in various stages of intoxication".
Wiz Khalifa himself is famous for several drug possession arrests.
