Rihanna Goes To Court
2012-07-06
It recently became known that Rihanna filed a lawsuit against the managers who dealt with her financial matters.
Rihanna’s financial flow was regulated by Berdon LLP. Specifically by two of the company’s employees, who already quit.
The suit mentions that Berdon LLP signed a contract with Rihanna, when she was 16 years old and didn’t understand anything about financial problems. According to that contract the financial managers didn’t get the usual flat rate fee, but received interest from concerts and other income, which is very unusual for such cases.
The plaintiffs declare that Rihanna got only 6 % of all the profit from her “Last Girl on earth” concert tour in 2009, while her financial managers got 22 %. So the tour resulted in negative profit.
The lawsuit also contains complaints that the business was handled very poorly, which led to problems with taxation authorities and that after these managers quit, the business started to flourish. The size of compensation is not mentioned in the suit.
